Practise a round

Practise a full round against three opponents, scored by the rules in scoring the game.
Turn the coaching on while you are learning: it counts your doubles, warns you off a dangerous discard and explains every settlement.
Turn it off once you would rather work it out yourself, and see whether you agree with the payout.
On a phone, take the mobile-sized layout and hold it sideways: your whole hand sits in one row. It installs to a home screen and plays a full round with no signal.

Keep score

Log a real session hand by hand — four players, the stakes agreed up front, and who owes what at the end of the night.

Work through the setup screen together first — it settles the money half of things to decide first, so those arguments happen once.
If your payouts do not simply double from one level to the next, turn on manual scale input and type each figure yourself.
One phone is the table’s scorer: who won, by discard or by Zhi Mo, the Doubles, any Kongs, any Bao. It carries the balance for all four, offline.
Save the PDF at the end of a session: the settings, the final scores, every tally and the full event history for that one night.

What is this hand worth

Set the stake and the limit, then read off what a hand pays and what it costs — the arithmetic of doubles, without the arithmetic.

Total a hand you have just won and check it against what the table paid you.
Try the same hand at different limits before you agree one, so everybody knows what a big hand will actually cost.
Read the full table down the page — every row is double the one above it, and the four columns are fixed multiples of each other.

Are you up or down

Keep your own running tally through a night of mahjong — tap what just happened and it settles itself, hand by hand.

Keep it open on your own phone through the night and tap the cell that matches what just happened — a 4-double Zhi Mo, a Kong you paid for.
Read the total at any point to see whether you are up or down, without doing the sums between hands — and pull an entry back out if you tapped the wrong cell, which re-settles it.
Use it alongside the in-game log (opens in a new tab) if somebody else is scoring the table — that one settles all four players, this one only settles you.
